Convoluted Chronicles

A note: my current fanfic, Be Wary of Strangers, is set in this world. So you'll get a glimpse of the worldbuilding and races and whatnot.

This was originally going to be a collection of twisted fairy tales, but I have since decided that in addition to that, I want to mesh it with social observations. Not like Dickens, though. Just sort of…have multiple times mesh together and the people have culture clashes. Not entirely sure that'll work out, but I'll always have that in the back of my mind while developing this.
There’s fantasy time-travel, lots of magic, and lots of different races.
I'm kinda protective about the way the magic works, cuz I haven't come across anything like it yet, and the way the magic works is intrinsic to the races.

Random snippet:

After exploring the time period they were meant to live in, Richard and Robby returned to the Time Spiral. Dressed in the current fashions of their time, they approached the Oracle.
Richard gripped the lapels of his leather jacket. The chains laced in and around the pockets jangled. "It reminds me of home."
Robby put his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "That explains why I dislike it."
The Oracle gave a rasping chuckle. "Not to worry, Chronicler. You shall part ways soon after this first adventure."
"You're a #@!#$% coward." Richard's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He glared at the Oracle. "What happened to my voice when I was trying to curse?"
The Oracle rubbed one set of four-fingered hands. "The Chronicler doesn't like cursing, you see."
Richard turned his glare to Robby. "What?"
"Erm..." Robby cleared his throat nervously. "I...didn't consciously do that." He held his hands out to the side in a placating gesture. "Sorry, not sorry?"
"How am I supposed to vent my frustration without looking like a madman?!"
"It wasn't that--"
"I sounded like a dying velociraptor! You ^@%#%$--agh!"
